Roman Catholic was just too big and too fast for Calvin Coolidge. In the third game of the day at the 27th Gonzaga DC Classic, Roman knocked off Coolidge by a score of 90 – 41. Roman, as the team is known in Philadelphia, is ranked among the top 15 in the nation and boasts a trio of players committed to play next year at Penn State University.
Roman came out running and led 22-7 after the first quarter. After that, the game was never close. Senior guard Nazeer Bostick led all scorers with 27 points on 10/12 shooting and 6 for 6 from the free throw line for the Cahillites. He was followed by last-year’s DC Classic MVP Tony Carr with 14 (including 10/10 on free-throws) and 11 points for Junior D’Andre Vilmar.
Sophomore James Hampton led Coolidge with 9 points, followed by senior Terrance Rozier with 7.
Roman Catholic will take on Good Counsel in the second semi-final game Saturday at 8:30 PM at Gonzaga.
