Team Profile

Philadelphia Catholic League (PCL) power Archbishop Wood makes its third appearance in the Gonzaga DC Classic. Coach John Mosco is starting his 13th year with an overall record of 218- 96, and a PCL Record of 115-49.

With a 11-13 record last year in a rebuilding year, Archbishop Wood finished 10th in a strong PCL and won a playoff game. We return six of our top eight from last year’s team, led by 1st Team All-Catholic Brady MacAdams (Marist commit), juniors Jaydn Jekins (Top 30) & Caleb Lundy (Top 125). The Vikings have another strong preseason schedule set before opening PCL competition, hosting two Diane Mosco Foundation Shootouts including a December 5 matchup vs perennial powerhouse Imhotep Charter as well as two games at The Governors Challenge in Maryland. The Vikings will also be heading to Tampa, Florida in early January to participate in The W.O.N. Invitational Showcase. The team looks forward to competing against these quality basketball programs.

Notable alumni include Collin Gillespie (Villanova, Phoenix Suns), who played in the 2016 Gonzaga DC Classic; Matt Cerutti (Albany); Andrew Funk (Bucknell, Penn State); Tyree Pickron (LIU); Seth Pinkney (FIU); Rasool Diggins (UMASS); Jalil Bethea (Alabama); and Josh Reed (Drexel). Both Bethea and Reed played in the 2021 Gonzaga DC Classic.

Located in Warminster Township, Bucks County, Pa, the school is named to honor the memory of the Most Reverend James F. Wood, the fifth Bishop of Philadelphia and its first Archbishop. Opened in 1964 as twin, single-sex facilities to serve the youth of Central and Upper Bucks County along with areas of Eastern Montgomery County, Pa., the schools merged in 1990. Today, this vibrant educational community boasts a well-deserved reputation for Catholic formation and academic excellence.
