Saint Andrew’s Episcopal School returns to the Gonzaga DC Classic Tournament since their last appearance in 2021. The Lions play in the Mid-Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAC) and are coming off a successful 2024-25 campaign where they finished 18-10 overall (9-3 Conference) and made it to the MAC Semi-finals.
The Lions are led by Coach Head Kevin Jones. Coach Jones has been with the program since 2011 and has also serves as the school’s Director of Athletics. During his tenure, he has accumulated over 200 wins.
In 2025-26, St. Andrew’s will be led in the backcourt by senior 6’0 guard Karon Bailey and junior guards 6’2 Devin Wingfield and 6’2 Damon Nelson. The front court will be led by seniors 6’ 8” Jayson Peterson and 6’10 Sifeng Huan. The team provides some depth and will look for contributions from senior 6’4 Matt Strasnick, junior 6’3 Truett Engel, sophomores 6’4 Max Raue, 5’11 Josh Sternberg and freshman 6’3 Jason Kornegay. St. Andrew’s has a record of 81-34 (37-11) in the last four seasons and competes in the Mid Atlantic Athletic Conference. St. Andrew’s plays an up-tempo style and has been ranked in the Washington Post top 20 for eight consecutive seasons. St. Andrew’s has had numerous players go on to play at the NCAA division I, II & III levels.
Coach Jones states, “This season is a great opportunity for our team and players collectively. We are truly grateful and excited to be participating in the 36th Annual Gonzaga DC Classic tournament.” “It has always been considered to be one of the top tournaments in the region, and we look forward to the challenge ahead and to compete with top teams.”

St. Andrew's Episcopal School's Upper, Middle, and Intermediate Schools are located on a 20 - acre campus in the suburban residential community of Potomac, Maryland, approximately 15 miles from the District of Columbia. A 75,000 square foot classroom building features state-of- the-art classrooms, science and technology laboratories, a two-story library, a media center and combined theater and assembly hall. The center of St. Andrew’s campus is home to a 43,000 - square-foot Student Center. This state-of- the-art building includes two gyms, a fitness center, multiple locker rooms, and a new athletic training space, and serves as the home of THE CENTER for TRANSFORMATIVE TEACHING & LEARNING at St. Andrew's Episcopal School. The Center leads the school's effort to integrate the latest in neuro-educational research and Mind, Brain, and Education Science into the classroom. There is no school in the entire Mid-Atlantic region more devoted to research-informed teaching than St. Andrew's. St. Andrew's Episcopal School is a fully accredited by the Association of Independent Schools, Maryland State Department of Education, and Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools.
