Chaminade College Preparatory School from St. Louis, Missouri, is making its second appearance in the Gonzaga DC Classic Tournament. The Red Devils play in the Metro Catholic Conference (MCC). For the 2024-2025 season, the Red Devils went 22-10, finished first in conference play, and finished runner up in Missouri Class 6, the top class in the state.
The Red Devils are led by Coach Frank Bennett, who is in his 13th year as head coach. During his time as head coach, Chaminade has a record of 248 wins and 72 losses, as well as earned a state championship, two state-runner up finishes, nine final-four appearances, multiple MCC titles and several district championships. During his time as coach, many of the players from these teams have gone on to successful basketball careers in college and beyond.
This year’s team is looking to continue their tradition of competing at a high level in and around the St. Louis area. The Red Devils have a roster filled with outstanding and balanced talent including seniors Jonny Jordan (University of Omaha Commit), Tricy Collins, Jesiah Buchanan (SEMO offer), Elijah Poniewaz, Mohomed Kourouma, and Oskar Kuzman. These are new faces looking to continuing an old tradition of Chaminade basketball.
Coach Bennett states, “We are grateful to be able to participate in the Gonzaga D.C. Classic. The combination of a premiere event and competition makes for a great experience for our school and community. We are excited to be able to participate again this year!”

Chaminade College Preparatory School is an independent Catholic School for young men in Grades 6-12. The school bears the name of Blessed William Joseph Chaminade, a priest who lived during the era of the French Revolution and who founded the religious order known as the Society of Mary (Marianists).
The school maintains an active relationship with this Society through governance structures and the employment of lay and religious Marianists committed to a conscious effort to keep alive the most fundamental traits of Marianist spirituality in all aspects of the institution's functioning. These traits include a deep sense of "faith of the heart," a deep sense of "community" and a deep sense of "mission."
It is the school's Marianist roots that cause it to emphasize growth in faith, the development of the whole person, and the cultivation of Gospel values in a nurturing environment. Much of the school's Catholic and Marianist approach is presented to students through the school's motto, "Esto Vir." This motto, which literally means, "Be a Man," is a challenge to maximize the potential of all the gifts and talents which God has placed in each individual and to cultivate human values all of which have their origin in the person and figure of Christ the "Perfect man." The motto helps to make it clear that education at Chaminade is much more than an academic undertaking; it is an endeavor that encompasses all aspects of the young man's being.
Chaminade’s athletic history dates all the way back to our founding in 1910. For over 100 years, we have believed that educating a young man happens both inside and outside of the classroom. We compete in the Metro Catholic Conference (MCC), the most competitive conference in the area, in over 20 sports across grade levels 6th – 12th.
